One big blog to rule them all...

I have decided that this blog is practically pointless for myself. My process of designing my projects for layout and typography were different than I assume for most people. It is easier for me to create by sitting in front of a computer screen, collecting images and then putting them up on my project. I like to rearrange until I think it looks right.

Project 2 was about the work Mother, and I included these images:

I wanted to demonstrate mothers through all different cultures and times. I used a grid 3x2 to layout the pictuers. I also used black and white.

My second poster for this mother project included pictures of hands with type overlaying them. The pictures I used, look like this:

The type I used to overlay was a poem. I found it on the internet. Here is the poem:
Who else, But a Mother? By: Linda EllisWho first loves and nurtures us and takes care of every need, as she accepts into her life someone new to bathe and feed? Who brags about accomplishments; first teeth...first sounds...first smile and makes every little thing that’s done seem important and worthwhile? Who’s been known to, after dark enter a room and slowly creep to bend and kiss the forehead of a child fast asleep? Who holds a hand while crossing as she thoughtfully conveys a reminder to her child that he should always “look both ways?” Who wipes peanut butter off a cheek and
crayone off the wall and knots an untied shoelace to avoid a likely fall? Who watches the swift passing of childhood years that she will mourn, and remembers every small detail about the day that child was born? Who works the longest hours without vacation...or a check, but accepts her payment in the form of a hug around her neck? Who never stops believing even when others are in doubt and defends the fact her child was “safe” when the umpire calls him out!? Who senses things just aren’t right and with the palm of her hand decrees by placing it
on her child’s brow...the fever’s 101 degrees? Who shares life’s disappointments and feels the pain of all the bruises and delights in her child’s winnings, but offers solace when he loses? Who realizes as the years pass by...the further her child will roam and who stays up late with worry when that child isn’t home? Who tries to shield and protect by showing courage...staying strong; trying to set a good example while her heart is breaking all along? Who acts as a private tutor as the years fall in succession by taking each opportunity to teach life’s every
lesson? Who listensw with her heart even when her child is grown and understands the feelings that she once herself, had known? Who saved old cards and letters and kept pictures on the shelvs and offered unconditional love so we could learn to love, ourselves? This poem describes one person; a woman unlike any other, for who could possess that level of love...Who Else, But A Mother?

The other two posters for this project were stricly text posters, and I used words to describe a mother.

My project three was a pamphlet about tips for parents. I formulated my plan in my head and went on the web to find pictures. I used lots of pictures for my second project. And it wouldn't make sense to put them all up here. In the pamphlet I gave tips to parents. I wish I could show you my pictures my this blog program does not accept PDF's and I don't have a scanner.

My fourth project was a photo book of my kids. I knew I wanted it to be black and white with color pictures. Each page had pictures of my kids with either a quote about kids or a line from a poem. Creating this project was fun. Loading up to BLURB was not, and things got screwed up. This was by far the most frustrating part of the class for the whole semestar. I would post pictures and an example on here to show you, however I don't wish to post pictures of my kids on the internet on this blog setting.

For my last project I chose to have my book signing at Barnes and Nobles which is my favortie book store, (One of the only ones in the fargo-moorhead area...why is this??)

Anyways, this is where I am going to end my blog. I have a different brain than most people and don't chose to design projects by sitting down and drawing them out. In theory the idea of sketching out your projects makes sense, but when it came time to execute it, it was all but a waste.
